Spicy Jalapeño Margarita

An easy upgrade to the basic margarita! This drink provides an ideal blend of sweet, citrus, and spice thanks to the jalapeño infused simple syrup. To tweak this recipe to taste: for a sweeter drink, add more orange liqueur // for a spicier drink, add more simple syrup.

& a final note: be sure to line the rim with chipotle lime salt. I’m usually lazy and skip the salt step with regular margaritas, but the extra flavor is worth the effort with this drink.

The Supplies:

  • Shaker
  • Jigger
  • Chipotle lime salt rimmed glass

The Ingredients:

  • Clear tequila
  • Grand Marnier or another type of orange liqueur
  • Lime juice
  • Jalapeño infused simple syrup (purchased OR 1 cup water + 2 cups turbinado sugar + 2 sliced jalapeños)

The How-To:

Prepare the fun stuff!

Mix 2 tbsp salt, 2 tsp lime rind, and a dash of chili powder to line the rim of your glass.

Slice some extra lime and jalapeño wheels

Add 2 ounces tequila, 1 ounce lime juice, half ounce orange liqueur, & 3/4 ounce simple syrup to a shaker

Add a handful of ice and shake

Strain into a rimmed rocks glass and garnish with lime and jalapeño slices

Happy Sipping!
